Storm hit New York

A powerful storm system striked the New York area on Wednesday, creating caos in the city with motorists in flash floods, delaying flights and cutting power off.

A tornado touched down in Islip Terrace at about 9:15 a.m., said Michael Wyllie, a National Weather Service chief meteorologist. Residents said it uprooted trees, sheared off a law office roof and left street signs twisted like candy canes.

As reported by other media, Central Park was devastated in just a matter of minutes.
