Shrek the Musical to begin performances in London in May 2011


Shrek the Musical will begin performances at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London in May in anticipation of an official opening on June 7.

Jason Moore and Rob Ashford will co-direct the production, which will have choreography by Josh Prince. Casting will be announced in the near future.

The show, which is based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek! as well as the DreamWorks Animation film Shrek, features book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay-Abaire, and music by Jeanine Tesori.

The creative team will include Tony Award winner Tim Hatley (scenic, costume and puppet design), Hugh Vanstone (lighting design), and Peter Hylenski (sound design).
