The first ever Broadway World UK Award Winners were announced today and Wicked London put in a respectable showing in a list dominated by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies.

Wicked won Best Long-Running West End Show with 24% of the vote, slightly ahead of Phantom of the Opera on 23%. The result was no doubt boosted by some fantastic social networking campaigning by fans of the show!

Former Glinda, Dianne Pilkington, scooped an impressive and somewhat apt 39% of votes for her role in 39 Steps in the “Best Leading Actress in a Play”, her co-stars also triumphing in the Best Featured Actor in a Play and Best Leading Actor in a Play categories.

Although the best Leading Actor in a Musical was won by Ramin Karimloo from Love Never Dies, current Fiyero, Lee Mead came a respectable third place with 14% of the votes.  In the best Leading Actress in a Musical (won by the wonderful Sheridan Smith of Legally Blonde), current Elphaba Rachel Tucker got 12% off the votes, current Glinda, Louise Dearman 6% and Wicked favourite Kerry Ellis got 13% for her performances as Nancy in Oliver!
