Wicked for the Flood fundraising in Adelaide

Jemma Rix, David Harris and Lucy Durack, Elphaba, Fiyero and Glinda respectively in the Australian production of Wicked were thrilled to be dressed for the Advertiser Sunday Mail Foundation luncheon in designs from Harry Watt and George Gross couture and delighted to receive a gift of a strand of pearls and matching earrings from major sponsor Raw Pearl’s Dyann Smith, all of this at the Intercontinental Hotel last week.

The three, who were due to appear in the production in Brisbane when the flooding started, told “Adelaide Now” their hearts went out to every Queenslander affected by the devastating crisis.

“It was pretty frightening,” Lucy said. “Two hours from the preview we were evacuated.”

When it was on with the show two weeks later the cast felt humbled to appear before such adoring fans, Jemma and Lucy admitting to be teary when singing a duet about friendship.

“The audiences who had been through so much were giving us so much back,” Lucy said.

“They were incredible audiences who were really vocal and so appreciative.
